The Mini Computer in Our Students’ Pockets

Do you realize how many computers you use in your daily life?  Count them up – your computer at home? Your computer at work? A laptop?  A child computer or two?  But which computer do you use most often?  For most adults and teenagers, it’s the computer that is occasionally used to make phone calls or sometimes listen to music.  Most phones and iPods can connect to the internet – in reality, they are mini computers.

iPhones and iPods in particular have many apps (applications) that can be used to support and enhance instruction from the classroom.  Below is a list of many educational apps for the iPod.  Don’t have an iPod or an iPhone (admittedly, I don’t)?  Many companies see the need for educational apps and are offering a wide variety on their websites.  Check out the manufacturers’ and service providers’ websites for your type of phone and see what applications they offer.
